OUR STORY

From Passion to Purpose

MODEL was founded in 2023 by Dodi Mardemootoo, a young passionate about shapes, forms, proportions, design and technology. The latter studied Architecture and graduated from Curtin University before returning to Mauritius in 2013. With over a decade of experience in leading firms in the country, Dodi has had the privilege of working on various medium to large scale complex architectural projects both locally and internationally.

Our story however began earlier, in 2015, with a simple yet powerful idea Dodi had while being in employment: the market for bespoke products for celebrations was untapped.

He saw an opportunity to move beyond generic offerings and bring architectural precision, innovation, and a deeply creative approach to gift and product packaging. What started as a passionate side project quickly evolved into a proven business model, resonating with customers who sought something uniquely their own for weddings, birthdays, Divali, Eid, Christmas, and more.

From its humble beginnings as a one-person company, MODEL has grown into a mature enterprise with a strong local presence. Our journey has been fueled by a commitment to innovation at every stage—from initial concept to final realisation, whilst keeping customer satisfaction our utmost priority.

Today, we are a dedicated team of 7 full-time professionals with a network of talented freelancers, designing and manufacturing everything in our own studios. Our commitment to growth and quality is leading us to an exciting new chapter: we are currently setting up a state-of-the-art factory in Mauritius specialising in luxury boxes. Equipped with advanced semi-automatic machinery, this facility will allow us to serve both local and international markets with even greater excellence and is expected to grow our family to over 20 full-time team members in the short to medium term.
